Some want to preserve the ACA

In 2017 the ACA penalty (individual mandate) was repealed. The ACA  penalty was put in place to make sure younger healthier individuals join in the risk pool to help stabilize it. There has been a lot of debate on whether to keep the penalty or not. It’s estimated without it over 15 million people will drop having coverage, leaving a big gap in the risk pool. This may cause higher premiums for those wanting and needing insurance. Concerned about the penalty going away, 9 states are considering putting there own measures in place.

California being one of the states trying to preserve the ACA mandate. There have been no measures put in place it has just been talk. We will see what will happen as the year continues. There are so many different thoughts and concerns it is hard to know what is the right move. Health coverage plays a vital part in everyone’s well being.
